ABOUT ELEPHANT PARADE
Elephant Parade is the largest open air art exhibition in preservation of the Asian elephant worldwide. Painted by local and international artists, each elephant is a unique piece of art. After the exhibition, all elephants are auctioned by renowned auctioneers such as Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers, Christie’s and Sotheby’s. Part of all proceeds of Elephant Parade is donated to The Asian Elephant Foundation.
MISSION
It is Elephant Parade’s mission to become the world’s largest financial support organization for the Asian elephant, which is threatened with extinction. The open air art exhibitions attract worldwide attention as well as much needed public awareness and support for the cause of elephant conservation: The elephant statues never go unnoticed by the wider public and mass media.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
Elephant Parade was founded by father and son Marc and Mike Spits in 2006. A year later, the first exhibition was held in Rotterdam. Marc was inspired to create the Elephant Parade after meeting Soriada Salwala whilst on holiday in Thailand. Soraida is the founder of the first elephant hospital in the world in Lampang, near Chiang Mai. Here, Marc met a baby elephant named Mosha, who had lost her leg after stepping on a landmine. Mosha inspired Marc to
found Elephant Parade. “I wanted to do something structural, something that is profitable in the long run. Only in that way we can provide the Asian elephant a future.” On June 9th, 2008, baby elephant Mosha was the first baby elephant ever to receive a prosthetic leg, which was co-financed by Elephant Parade.
A WORLDWIDE SUCCESS
Elephant Parade proved to be hugely successful. In the past 3 years, over 7 million Euros (52mio. dkk) have been raised at auctions throughout Europe. Over 4 million Euros (29 mio. dkk) were donated to charity. To date, hundreds of Asian elephants have been saved and cured, but there are still thousands of elephants that need our support.
THE ASIAN ELEPHANT: A QUESTION OF TIME
Over the last 100 years, the number of Asian elephants has decreased with 90%. Today, there are less than 35,000 Asian elephants left throughout Asia. Almost 150,000 Asian elephants died in the last 25 years. In Thailand there are just 4,000 elephants left, of which only 1,500 live in the wild. If we don’t take action now, the Asian elephant will become extinct in a couple of decades. Joining hands with The Asian Elephant Foundation gives Elephant Parade the guarantee that the money raised with the events is spent in the best manner.

Saigon Visual Communication and Workshop with BBDO Creative Director and The Color Club Creative Director
Initiated by Gunnar Bergkrantz in late November 2009 and inspired and supported by Peter Cameron, both of whom were committed volunteers and professionals in their field of product photography and advertising industry, a research of Advertising Market in Ho Chi Minh City was conducted from January to March 2010 and a course called Saigon Visual Communication was introduced in September this year.
The course takes place at The Color Club who also takes the important trainer role. Participants include twelve graduates per year from the current Photography/Art/IT courses at Thang Long School. The training would enable the students to attain a satisfactory level of skill and understanding of how to execute and process images to modern international standards, which then would allow them to work in Production Houses, or the production departments of Advertising Agencies, Design Agencies or Publishers.
